I Need A Hero

After reading Beowulf and viewing Troy, we have witnessed two outstanding examples of the epic hero in both Beowulf and Achilles.  We have discussed the qualities that the Greeks felt were required of their hero, from superhuman strength and beauty to courage and loyalty.  Usually though, the Greek hero was not perfect; he possessed a tragic flaw, typically pride, that would generally be his ultimate downfall.
With all this mind, think about who YOU would consider a hero in today's world.  Does the American hero need to be beautiful?  Intelligent?  Perfect?  Write a paragraph examining the characteristics of a modern day hero.  Also, identify who you consider to be your hero and explain your reasoning.
